Being Home For The Holidays

It is that time of the year again...

Whether you are in college, live out of  state or country, you might be heading home for the holidays to spend time with your families.

This could be wonderful time for you and one that you can't wait for, or you could be dreading every living minute of it before you start your trek back home to celebrate with family. Not all families live "The Brady Bunch" lifestyle and I am sure, even the Brady's had some difficult times although we never knew about them. Families are like oil and water at times. Sometimes they just don't mix well.

We try to put up with all the little quirks that bother us about family members, but it is so hard to put them in the back of our mind when confronted with "Uncle George" or "Aunt Susie". Remember how they bugged you when you were a child? Maybe there is a sibling that just goes against your grain and irritates the heck out of you. No matter what the problem, this is life and we all face some family crisis or dilemma once in a while.

Holidays for some are very emotional, especially if you have lost a love one, experienced  broken relationships or there are problems with a family member, creating an estranged situation with that person or persons.

Anyone who says they do not have any problems must be living in "la-la land". No one is perfect and we do not agree with everyone or everything. I, for one, have experienced being in the same room with  certain persons which made it hard and very stressful, but knowing that  it was just for the one day made it easier and I made the most of it. Why would I want to make everyone else around me feel the tension that I feel and ruin their holiday? What is the cliche? Just "bite the bullet" and let it slide over your back. At the end of the day or evening, you will say goodbye and another year goes by.

Try to forget these problems and make the most of the holiday.....we are only here for a short time... so let's make the most of it.

Let us all enjoy the holiday and if you are heading home enjoy it and be thankful that you have a home to go home to.  Who knows, it might not be that stressful and you might actually have a good time and maybe reconcile with those that irk you..

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
